Core Value Spotlight

At Boys & Girls Clubs of St. Charles County, our core values guide every experience we create, supporting our mission to inspire youth to reach their full potential. This October, we're thrilled to recognize our Haunted House Volunteers for bringing the core value of Opportunity to life. This team—comprised of community members and youth volunteers—worked tirelessly to transform the Club into a Halloween wonderland, providing our young members with a unique blend of thrill, fun, and personal growth.

For many of our youth, participating in the Haunted House project went beyond typical Halloween festivities. As volunteers, they had the chance to explore event planning, set design, and teamwork alongside experienced mentors, building a stronger sense of community. “Our Haunted House Volunteers went above and beyond to create an unforgettable experience,” said Makaley Mena-Dominguez, Community Impact & Volunteer Coordinator at Boys & Girls Clubs of St. Charles County. “This event allowed our youth to try new things and discover skills they may not have known they had.”

On the day of the event, youth volunteers stepped into roles as actors, creating a thrilling, immersive experience for Club members and guests. The Haunted House has quickly become one of our most anticipated events, providing a space where young people can thrive in an environment that encourages exploration and creativity. Many youth volunteers expressed a desire to pursue further opportunities in event planning, creative design, and leadership roles, with some even discovering new hobbies and interests along the way.

Through the Haunted House, our volunteers have created a lasting impact, empowering our youth to dream big and chase new opportunities. We are grateful to everyone who contributed their time, effort, and energy to make this Halloween one to remember. The Haunted House volunteers have embodied the spirit of Opportunity, showing our youth what it means to explore passions and make a meaningful difference.

Thank you to all our volunteers for inspiring Great Futures for our members! We look forward to seeing the continued impact of this incredible team effort.
