St. Charles, MO – August 8, 2024

Boys & Girls Clubs of St. Charles County (BGCSTC) continued its tradition of impactful community engagement by hosting the 2nd annual "Breakfast with a Purpose" on August 8, 2024. This event brought together volunteers, stakeholders, elected representatives, staff, and members in a collaborative effort to drive meaningful change, reflecting the Club's nearly 70-year legacy as a cornerstone of the greater St. Charles community.

Karen Englert, CEO of BGCSTC, spoke on the progress made in the Club’s three-year strategic plan: "We are proud to report the successes of Year 1 in our three-year plan and are excited to continue this progress in Year 2. Our commitment to transparency and accountability means that we are dedicated to regularly updating our stakeholders on our achievements and challenges as we work towards our shared goals."

The strategic plan for 2022-2025 focuses on five key categories: Safety; Strengthening the Organization; Advocacy, Growth, & Strengthening the Movement; Improving Program Quality; and Membership, Parent, & Community Engagement. These areas are designed to drive comprehensive progress and ensure the Club’s mission of positively impacting youth and the community remains strong. Each category represents a critical component of the Club's growth and effectiveness, guiding our efforts to enhance the safety and quality of our programs, build organizational strength, advocate for broader support, and engage meaningfully with members and the community.

Attendees started the morning with networking opportunities and a shared breakfast. The program included detailed updates on the Club's ongoing initiatives, challenges, and future objectives—all focused on enhancing the lives of youth and positively impacting the community.

A highlight of this year's event was the involvement of seven Club youth from the St. Charles Unit and the O'Fallon Unit, selected for their exemplary behavior during the summer and their commitment to the Club's core values: Safety, Belonging, Compassion, Excellence, and Opportunity. These youth shared the positive affirmations they recite at their Club units and led the audience in their Mighty Club Kid chant. Their participation provided personal insights into how the Club's programs have influenced their lives and fostered dialogue that promotes understanding, mentorship, and personal growth.

Guests were also given guided tours by the Club youth, offering a firsthand look at the Club's transformative educational and recreational offerings. The event coincided with the "Peace, Love, Great Futures” themed Summer Camp program, allowing attendees to observe the Club's mission in action. The continued success of "Breakfast with a Purpose" underscores the power of a united community in shaping a brighter future for everyone involved.
