CHARLES, MO, February 17, 2020 – The Boys & Girls Clubs of St. Charles County (BGCSTC), a youth development organization for children ages 6-18, today announced the resignation of its Chief Executive Officer, Linda Sanchez, effective March 31, 2020. Karen Englert, who currently serves as the organization’s Director of Resource Development, has been appointed as the new CEO.

Sanchez has been active in the Club for over twenty years. In 2009 she was appointed a member of the Board of Directors and served as Board President in 2015. She was appointed interim CEO in 2016 and was then hired as CEO in August 2016.

“We are grateful for Linda’s contributions that helped us grow the mission of the Boys & Girls Clubs of St. Charles County, especially her dedication to the organization during a transition period. The Board appreciates Linda’s hard work and commitment, and also wants to recognize the involvement and many contributions of her family over the years,” said Carolyn Harting, President of the Board of Directors.

Harting continued, “We are delighted to have Karen Englert step into an expanded role as CEO. The combination of Karen’s background in education, coupled with her leadership roles in nonprofits, makes her ideally suited for this position. We look forward to continued growth in furthering the Club’s mission under her leadership.”

Prior to her role Boys & Girls Clubs, Englert served the American Heart Association as the director of government relations. She has a background in education earning her Master’s in Severe Developmental Disabilities from Webster University. Englert, a long-time resident of St. Charles County shared, “It is an honor to assume this new role. I am proud of the work we have accomplished to date and am eager to partner with our staff, Board of Directors, volunteers, community, and families to further our vision.”

Boys & Girls Clubs of St. Charles County provide a safe and fun environment for youth to explore academic and personal interests outside the traditional school classroom. In St. Charles County there are two Boys & Girls Clubs units, one in St. Charles and one in O’Fallon. BGCSTC has provided support to members for over 60 years in three key areas: academics, healthy lifestyles, and good character. In addition, the Boys & Girls Clubs of St. Charles County consistently receives the Gold Seal of Approval by GuideStar, an information service that reports on U.S. nonprofit companies.
