Congratulations 2018 Basketball Champions!

Six teams from three age divisions played for the 2018 Winter Basketball championship Saturday, March 10 at the St. Charles unit location. These teams advanced to the finals after the play-off rounds March 3. The championship games are the exclamation point to an exciting season that started January 6, 2018.

Coach Woods 1-2 Team

1st-2nd Grade Champions

Coach Wood’s 1st-2nd grade team won for the youngest division. Throughout the season, members learned the rules and important fundamentals of the game. The focus of this league is on learning and fun, rather than competition. Teams practiced for one hour per week at one of the two BGCSTC unit locations.

3rd-4th Grade Champions

Coach Powell’s 3rd-4th grade team, the “Cobras,” won for the middle age division. Players in this age division continued to improve fundamentals while starting to learn simple offensive and defensive plays and positions. Jayden, a 4th grader from the Cobra team, said, “My favorite part of playing basketball was when I scored baskets. I like helping my team make shots.”

6-8 grade champions

6th-8th Grade Champions

The 6th-8th grade champions was Coach Hunn’s team. Players in this age division learned more advanced plays. They also learned what it means to be part of a team and to show good sportsmanship.

Boys & Girls Clubs of St. Charles County would like to thank all of the coaches, players, parents and supporters for a great season. Thank you for helping make Great Futures Start Here!
